Alternative Energy Incentives

Due to the high initial costs of alternative energy systems, some sort of financial assistance is necessary for most of us to justify the investment in installing a renewable energy source (solar, wind turbines, etc…) to our homes or businesses. The financial payback would be too far out, if at all, to justify without it. Alternative energy incentives come in many forms; i.e. grants, tax abatements, rebates, incentives, subsidies, paybacks, carbon offset earnings, buy backs and more. Depending on where you live, you can expect to receive 35-75% in incentives off the original costs of the alternative system. Check with your supplier and installer if they will help facilitate any of the incentives in your area.

In doing research for tax incentives, grants, and any way to help defray the cost of installing alternative energy systems and ways to pay for greater energy efficiencies, I came across a website that I believe to have the best database on alternative energy incentives; this site is the Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency www.dsireusa.org. They a have an easy to use geographical view and searchable database on State and Federal incentives.
